The irony of this self-admission is almost too overwhelming to take in. It’s like seeing the northern lights or Grand Canyon for the first time. The juxtaposition of universal vastness and personal smallness takes your breath away. In this case, it’s the galactic lack of self-awareness abutting the prodigious paradoxicality. (Now THAT’S alliteration.) That Trump is so separated from reality (narcissistically boasting he has abilities like no other) and so absolutely correct at the same time (inadvertently stating the superlative that, yes, there never has been a president as corrupt, amoral, and incompetent) — now that takes your breath away. “There’s never been a president like President Trump.”

(Trump, Donald, R-N.Y., U.S. president; Q&A with reporters; Air Force One; 8/9/2019.)

Our president characterized himself the other day while wrestling with reporters aboard Air Force One. Donald was asked why he was so sure he could get gun purchase background checks through Congress after his and so many other attempts had failed in the past.

“There’s never been a president like President Trump.”

Nearly all news outlets leapt upon this presidential admission, giving it their own ironic spin. As it should be. Donald Trump essentially, unwittingly wrote his own epitaph. He summed up himself and his presidency in eight words. That’s news. That’s a headline to go down in history with the greats (these are all real):

“Headless Body in Topless Bar”

“Same Old Schlong & Dance” (Anthony Weiner’s second sexting scandal)

“Trump Admits: ‘There’s Never Been a President Like President Trump’”

As always, I do the complex, cerebral research so you don’t have to.

To amplify this article’s title, here are a few more of my headlines, once again highlighting merely one week’s worth of presidential corruption, amorality, and incompetence.

HEADLINES & MORE (Week Ending 8/15/19)

Banks Turn Over to Congress Many Documents Related to Russians’ Business Deals With Trump (8/8/2019)

Trump and his administration are scared out of their minds about what these documents might reveal. They could be as illuminating as Donald’s elusive tax returns. It will take Congress some time to go through these and decide what they can or can’t, should or shouldn’t release. More to come.

Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok Suing FBI for Wrongful Termination Pressured by Trump (8/8/2019)

McCabe and Strzok faced unending attacks from President Trump until their employment was terminated (and after), for no other reason than that they did their jobs and did them well. These were two of many FBI officials forced out simply for being involved in the initial Trump-Russia investigation, which we now know was totally warranted and would have been initiated by any FBI leadership under any administration based upon the evidence at the time. These suits are bold moves that 1) add to the president’s multitude of legal battles and 2) could ultimately punish his blatant corruption.

Trump Org. Still Employing Undocumented Immigrants at Clubs; President Plays Dumb (8/9/2019)

Outrage Continues Over Trump, ICE Continuing Family Separations, Rampant Child Cruelty (8/9/2019)

Trump Homeland Security Announces Crackdown, Stiffer Rules on Legal Immigration (8/12/2019)

These three headlines illustrate the mammoth hypocrisy and cruelty of Trump’s long-term immigration policy initiatives. Notice there is no crackdown on employers who hire undocumented workers, which is the true heart of the problem. These companies like the cheap labor, and Trump likes companies. Business as usual. But don’t become worn down by the consistent outrageous nature of Donald’s acts. They remain outrageous, no matter how often they occur.

Trump Sides With North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un, Denounces Resumption of Joint U.S.-South Korean Military Exercises (8/10/2019)

Remember, not only is he corrupt and cruel, he is incompetent. Trump is throwing Kim Jong Un another very large bone — Kim hates the annual U.S., South Korean joint military exercises, which he views as an existential threat — in Donald’s continuing hope that Kim will denuclearize the peninsula and give the president a big political win. Unbiased foreign policy experts across government, however, know Kim is playing Trump for the sucker he is, like a finely tuned blow dryer (and violin). The only one unaware of this is Donald.

Trump Moves to Gut Endangered Species Act, Trashing More Regulations to Favor Corporations (8/12/2019)

Trump’s efforts to eliminate safety and environmental regulations will never stop until he is thrown out of office. Some say the president’s views on climate change and the environment are biased and myopic. I say it’s worse than that: Trump knows of the damage coming from climate change and his deregulationist acceleration of it, and he doesn’t care. One thing matters to Donald: short-term monetary gain for himself and his corporate brethren. Damn the future. Damn protecting Earth. Even damn his own grandchildren who will suffer the consequences of his policies — not to mention the shame they will bear as his descendants.

AG Bill Barr “was appalled … and frankly, angry” at Jeffrey Epstein’s Suicide in Prison While Awaiting Trial for Sex Trafficking of Underage Girls; Barr Apparently NOT Being Frank When He “was appalled” (8/12/2019)

A little linguistic humor for the English majors. The serious side of this is that Epstein’s death is still a mystery and possible criminal cover-up. It’s widely believed that Epstein might have named names of other politicians and celebrities who partook in the fruits of his sex trafficking scheme involving underage girls. And Trump (among others) was an old Epstein bud who partied with him in the past. It’s all on video.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) Blocked Russia Sanctions Bill Last Jan. at Same Time of Meeting Involving Proposed Sanctioned Russian Firm Rusal Who Planned to Build Plant in Ky.” (8/13/2019)

Senate Majority Leader McConnell (R-KY) Continues to Fume at “Moscow Mitch” Nickname Insinuating He Favors Russia Over U.S. Interests and Election Security in Support of Trump, Self (8/14/2019)

Mitch McConnell will have his day of reckoning. He’s blocked Russian sanctions and all attempts at improving U.S. election security, some say, to allow Russia once again to help Trump win the presidency, keeping GOP bigwigs like McConnell in power and in the money. How can this guy face his adult children and grandchildren? This is so much like a Law and Order episode in which the mob (Trump) gradually sucks in a guy (McConnell) with bribes and favors (or reelection support) to do their bidding. Next thing you know, the guy (McConnell) is carrying out hits (blocking election security, sanctions) for the mob (Trump) and he can’t get out because he’s in too deep.

Trump Postpones Some China Tariffs From 9/1 to 12/15 for Fear of Hurting Economy During Shopping Season; Move Exposes Trump’s Consistent Lie That Tariffs Earn U.S. Billions of Dollars (8/13/2019)

Dow Closes 800+ Points Down on Inverted Yield Curve (Short-Term U.S. Bond Yields Beat Long-Term); IYC Is Reliable Impending Recession Indicator; Trump Blames Fed, Experts Blame Trump (8/14/2019)

The inverted yield curve — when two-year treasury bonds start outperforming 10-year bonds — is considered one of the most reliable indicators of an impending recession. The last time it happened was before the 2008 Great Recession. Nonpartisan financial experts attribute this bad news to Trump’s tariffs and general incompetence. Trump is blaming the Fed for not lowering interest rates. As always, Trump takes credit when the economy performs well (thanks to Obama) and blames others when it doesn’t.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu Reverses Self, Denies Entry to Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) After Trump’s Urging to Block Them; Dems. Warn Netanyahu of Consequences (8/15/2019)

But President Trump is not a racist.

Calgon, take me away. ■
